CVA: Alliance Tournament X Update

Sollana - TLOS Director

In a surprise move CVA nabbed the final tournament spot in the auction the other day.

A statement by TLOS director Sollana stated:

"With all the drama about most alliances not bidding for the last slot available, EQ and Sir Prime, pestered by Sollana and Neddy Fox (team captains) pushed for the last slot.  Bidding started and a Bid of 10 plex was posted, immediately the bid was accepted and bidding was closed.  EQ wants CVA to put all efforts into this venture after the debacle discussion/ argument that ensued over the potential of participation in Faction warfare."

The debacle mentioned in Sollana's statement refers to several internal discussions that appeared on CVA forums during the last month regarding the changes to Faction Warfare and potential for CVA entering the conflict.  Some of the discussion became quite heated, displaying the evident split in positions between many of the old guard with strong loyalists roots and several of the newer major corporations who are firmly nullsecists. While this split has simmered under the surface for several months the faction warfare discussion has forced this to the surface.

With the tournament approaching the FW issue has been officially put on hold as the tourney team ramps up practices and theorycrafting and the alliance begins to focus on preparing for the tournament.  However after the tournament it is anybodies guess how this growing rift will be healed.

Fun side note, Equinox Daedalus, TLOS CEO and CVA executor, was podded in the second engagement (http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13481502).  Shonion from Hun Reloaded is the very luck recipient of Equi's bounty which I believe had gone over 500 Million Isk.

Alliance Tournament X . . . or Not

So as usual with the announcement of Alliance Tournament X, a flurry of forum posting, theory crafting, and volunteering happened.  Practice runs on sissy were made, new secret forum boards were created, and a general excitement gripped the alliance.  Until the 20th, when it was discovered that CVA had failed to sign up in time for the bracket drawings.  What happened?  According to Equinox, nobody told him the due date for being signed up.  This is not the first time this has happened with CVA missing several previous tournaments because of missed due dates.

CVA will once again, be watching from the sidelines.

HED becomes Freeport, Given to Chribba

At the beginning of May, the outpost in HED-GP was transferred to Chribba's "Otherworld Empire."  Sources confirmed earlier that the outpost is in-fact now a freeport and open to anyone docking.  Rumors report several CVA corporations taking out offices.

What does this mean for HED?  Nothing . . . Everything.  HED will remain one of the most dangerous, heavily camped system in south New Eden.  -A- retain system sovereignty and their jumpbridges remain in system for the 'southern coalition.'  Hosting a freeport, owned by a neutral third party certainly opens potential doors for new types of combat, and provides a staging place for deeper raids into Catch and logistical interference in HED itself.  It will be interesting to see what types of unforseen consequences result from this transfer.

Chribba and HED

To: Against ALL Authorities,
Chribba’s efforts to make Eve a better place are both ever-present and legendary at the same time. Many of us use his services in and out of game to enhance their enjoyment of the game. He is the example of everything that is right in Eve. When Chribba came to us and inquired if we might have a system for him, we thought long and hard of how we can create a win-win-win situation that benefits Chribba, benefits Eve, and benefits –A-.
We believe that with power in the game comes responsibility for the game. As a result of our deliberations, we have transferred the ownership of HED-GP station to Chribba’s Alliance. Sovereignty of the HED-GP system remains with –A-. It is Chribba’s intention to open access to HED-GP station to everyone. We support that move as it makes it easier for people in Eve to get into 0.0 space, will foster small gang pvp, and allows others to measure their skills against ours when we are on vacation back home. All we had to do was to give up one out of three system timers.
We consider this a small price to pay for advancing Eve forward and providing Chribba with a new home. We will continue to vigorously defend the sovereignty of HED-GP against all invaders and will protect the station against all changes of ownership without our consent.

General Hot Drop Fleet Yields Surprising Sweetness

The now familiar "Fear from Above" fleet yielded surprisingly sweet results today.  Several hours into the op after several previous drops, reports filtered through that Corp 54's home outpost in BR-N97, 54- Full Deck, was being bubble camped by a small Red.Overlord fleet.  The 'Fear" FC decided to intervene and sent scouts, cynos in the general direction of BR but by the time the arrived on the scene a separate combat fleet had already appeared and forced the Red.Overlord to retreat a jump over to their cyno chain system of ERVK-P.  We decided to have the bait play on their outpost to see what we could see.  Of course Red.Overlord undocked two-three battle-cruisers and a Niddy.  At first we thought 'lol' lame station games, until the phoenix and Moros undocked.  Red.Overlord aggressed, the cyno went up, and the Fearacles jumped in.

The dreads continued to stay aggressed as "Fear" jumped in, despite being outnumbered 7-1.  Immediately the BCs were primaried and a drake was killed (the others ran way).  As another friendly fleet entered the battlefield, the primary moved to the Moros as bump orders were given for the Phoenix (whose position allowed for bumping much easier.  The Moros remained aggressed all the way into structure and died before it was allowed to dock.  The Phoenix entered siege as it was bumped out of dock range (WTF?) and than proceeded to glide further out of dock range on its own accord.  Unfortunately the Phoenix self-destructed with around 25% shields remaining.  The Niddy manged to scoop much of the Moros loot (as it died at 0 on the outpost).

"Fear from Above" returned to its perch were, after being scouted by a wolf, proceeded to drop a pirate fleet belonging to the same corporation as the scout after they 'engaged the bait.'  Altogether a successful FEAR fleet.
